Pierre F.  Giammanco M.D.

Credentials

The most significant credential a surgeon can have is proof of excellent surgical results in satisfied surgical patients.  Poor results tend to over shadow any other credential.  Plastic surgeons are validated best through photo documentation of the patient's appearance before and after.

As a specialist in Aesthetic and Rejuvenative Plastic Surgical procedures one must have significant surgical training in Plastic Surgery or in one of the many fields overlapped by Plastic Surgery . Dr. Giammanco was trained in General Surgery and in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. His five years of Post graduate training were all spent in the Detroit Medical Center earning him the eligibility to be Certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. He trained under a prestigious chief  who was distinguished as the busiest and the most successful Rhinoplastic surgeon in Detroit and suburbs : G.Jan Beekhuis,MD who became president of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive  Surgery. The final three months and 2 additional months were spent in 4 ½ month mini fellowship in Facial Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery with Morey Parkes in Beverly Hills and at Midway Hospital.  Dr Parkes was also a past president of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. This, combined with many years of experience practicing Facial Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery, made him eligible to take the exam and become Board Certified by the American Board of Facial  Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in 1991. By that time he had added the “New” procedure Liposuction and subsequently other body procedures to his practice after taking and teaching multiple courses and observing and assisting at the operating table of multiple skilled and successful surgeons.

Since moving to CA in the ‘90s, he joined the teaching staff at UCI in the Facial  Plastic division of the Otolaryngology –Head and Neck Surgery dept. as an Assistant Clinical professor participating in teaching of residents and fellows, in rounds, courses and workshops etc. similar to what he had done in Detroit in the Wayne State University programs as a Clinical Associate Professor.

Dr. Giammanco believes in communicating with each patient with regards to their surgical goals and in pointing out what he sees using a computer and digital images. He has operated on thousands of  cases and studied the predicted or desired appearance and the actual results of each one. This contributes to his expertise and the results are satisfactory to patients 99% of the time. This  percentage  has gone up over time from a lesser  level when he first started. Not too many people can match his experience. And experience is necessary for development of good judgment.
